Music Education
Music
is an art that allows us to celebrate and preserve our cultural
heritages, and also to explore the realms of expression, imagination,
and creation resulting in new knowledge.
Music
helps students with reading skills, speech communication, emotional
development, teamwork, and the development of fine motor skills,
pronunciation and memorization.
The
music scene in Athens, GA is built around diversity, and as the local
student population becomes more diverse, the Athens Music Foundation
will concern itself with diversifying and enhancing music instruction
and how it is delivered.
It
is very important that neither culture, age, race, special needs,
socio-economic status, nor geography should preclude anyone from having
a rich education that includes music participation and musical
knowledge.
Preserving
the strengths of Athens’ existing music programs while expanding them
to meet more diverse needs is an important goal.
We think that every kid in Athens should learn how to be a ROCKSTAR.
The Athens Music Foundation will strive to meet this goal with the following actions:
• Promote the accommodation of diversity within music programs.
• Promote current best practices in music education.
• Promote the use of new technologies.
• Promote music participation outside the school and beyond the
school years.
• Provide tools and support for music educators in the classroom.
Creative Health Care
Environmental
and health concerns as well as economic hardships, especially within
the independent music establishment, are making people keenly aware of
the need to develop new ways to live in a more sustainable and healthy
manner.
Health Care for musicians and for all creative people is of the utmost importance.
The Athens Music Foundation is dedicated to promoting the innovation of Creative Health Care Solutions.
As
a leading community organization, our role will be to research and
promote Universal Health Care.
Musicians are creative people that have the ability to rally support for this cause and unite the community behind the need for better solutions to local health care.
Creative people everywhere deserve access to a life of health, and in a creative city like Athens, Georgia, the musicians are singing testament to this important cause.
We
intend to empower citizens, engender civic responsibility, and provide
a service and renewed sense of hope to the community at large as it relates to health coverage for the creative.
Experiential Learning Programs
We believe that people need to experience what is possible in order to make a lasting impact.
Our
mission in this respect is to demonstrate ecologically and socially
sustainable technologies and living practices by organizing experiential learning opportunities to the public at large.
We
want also to collect and disseminate information about such
technologies and practices, and to facilitate and fund original
research in this field.
AMF
is dedicated to challenging the notion that living in a healthy and
sustainable way is something difficult to achieve or burdensome to
endure.
The
Athens Music Foundation will offer public education on environmental
and health issues, social change, and other issues that affect the
music community.
Synergy
AMF
wants also to facilitate collaborative synergetic group behaviors by
organizing and promoting various networking events and learning
opportunities such as conferences.
We
want to unite visionary creative leaders in Athens and facilitate the notion
that living healthy should be free.
